about

SOME BELIEVE THAT MORGAN ROBERTSON MAY HAVE PREDICTED THE MOST WELL KNOWN MARITIME DISASTER WHEN HE PENNED HIS NOVELLA IN 1898. COINCIDENCE?

lyrics

Stories told forevermore
Beyond the tides that crash the shore
Stormy graves too numerous to be known
The hand of fate it may appall
To hear this tale I now recall
A little time and I leave this with you

And though you think that you’ve heard this before
Coincidence? Too many to be ignored

Far beneath the solar kiss
Lying in the dark abyss
Rising up this Titan ghost on the floor
Within the steel an age has died
Concealed the dead buried inside
And crying out their voices carry through time

Broken in two, the iron rusts back to sand
Gaea she waits to claim her winning hand

Standing at the fore deck alone
Adrift on the tide
A broken man is cast aside
In their eyes he sees a life once he knew
The heart he pursued
It’s tearing him in two

Gale and the ash drive this conquest of man
No smite from gods that her walls can’t withstand

Five years gone, the time brings no repose
From thoughts he retains
Just one more drink to ease the pain
The night ahead conceals an unlikely fate
New paths he may take
Revealed by daybreak

Off in the night lay the schooner and crew
Struck by her bow, she is broken in two
All the way through

This time, the bell it tolls for you
Bringing to an end the reign that you pursue
Far from the light of the shore
Seized by the tides that take you to your grave
Every part of you the sea will now enslave
Here at the fall, a night to recall once again

Ten and fifty high the sailor’s gaze
Beholds who is slain
His silence is sought but will not be obtained
The captain seeks but to little avail
Disparage this tale
The sailor will prevail

Tainting his vice and the poison is spread
On looks the child as corruption is bred
Right up ahead

This time, the bell it tolls for you
Bringing to an end the reign that you pursue
Far from the light of the shore
Seized by the tides that take you to your grave
Every part of you the sea will now enslave
Here at the fall, a night to recall once again

In the dark there loomed the ice ahead
Titan steamed too fast to turn
She strikes below and shakes the hand of doom
And the deep far beneath is her tomb

The sailor held the child near to him
Three thousand cries fill the dark
From the deck to berg the two are thrown

As the ship sank like lead
In a sea of the dead
And the two are soon left all alone

Sails out in the night passed into sight
And took them away from horror to home
Clearing this man of the blame
Honor restored to his name
And as with the tide, fortune subsides

Another time, another place
An omen that you may retrace
The story ends, but the moral the same
To dare the gods and claim the sea
A tale to futility
And still we seek until we conquer the deep
